Greetings for Christmas and the New Year. By now you might have heard about the next lot of workshops Julie and I plan to run. It's a joint venture with Cameron & Debbie. We've called it The Rock'n'Roll Bumper Day Out and will be held on the 23rd of February at Mt Hawthorn Community Hall.
It's going to be an amazing day with 3 great dance workshops to fill some of the gap left by Summersun. In fact there's so much to tell about it we created a web page dedicated just to this event. You can follow this link to go straight there and get all the hot details.

Just in case you haven't had a chance yet to check out The Rock'n'Roll Bumper Day Out, here's a sneek preview of one of the workshops being held on the day. It's called 'Squeezy Dancing'. "Sick of being kicked, elbowed and squashed whenever the dance floor gets packed? Do endless basics get boring because the lack of room prevents you from doing anything else? You're not the only one. "We have hand picked a selection of dance moves that positively rock in a tight space. Stay one step ahead of the pack. Squeezy Dancing will revolutionalize the way you dance at the Mustang Bar and any venue that pulls in the crowds.

Howdy Rock 'n' Roller. Julie and I are now back in the Perth Rock and Roll scene after a few years off doing other things. But as everyone knows, once dancing gets in your blood there's no escaping it for long. So when our good friends from Byford (Robyn, Terry & the gang) plus Howard and Jacqui from Old55 Rock 'n' Jive invited us to run some workshops, how could we resist?
Anyway, here they are. You can read all about them down below. We can't wait to meet you on the day because I know we're going to have a ball.
Long live Rock and Roll ! Nik

Had enough of jiving to the same old Rock ‘n’ Roll? Want to learn a fantastic new dance that lets you cruise in style or go like greased lightning? It’s known as Rockabilly and it will blow your hair back.
In Red Hot Rockabilly we will teach you everything you need to know to have huge fun on the dance floor. No prior dance experience is necessary. Many thanks to the eager Rockers who made it to the Improvers dance workshop on the weekend. I think the long drive to Byford might have put some people off. My apologies to those who wanted to come but didn't hear about it until it was too late. Everyone else had a lot of fun exploring how to "style up" their dancing as well as getting in some new moves. In fact, Doug and Sue got such a buzz they plan on doing the Rockabilly workshop next weekend as well. Here's what they had to say:
"I learned one thing today - I like Rockabilly and I like to put attitude into it but for some reason I don't put it into Rock and Roll. But now I'll certainly use it because now I've been shown what to do." Doug Patulny, Byford
"I loved it. It was great. I specifically liked learning that we could actually do something with our Rock and Roll. We could flair it up a little bit and have a lot more fun with it." Sue Patulny, Byford |

If you love dancing Rock ‘n’ Roll and are hungry for more moves then this workshop is for you. The Improvers workshop leaps forward from beginners level by expanding on your existing dance knowledge.
In Improvers -1 you’ll get to develop: - Exciting new dance steps
- Better partnering skills and floorcraft
- Superior timing and body tension
- Clear leads and signals
All of which you will need to master more challenging moves. Still, what good are fancy figures if you don’t look good doing them? In addition, we introduce elements of style so that you can begin to develop YOUR own unique presence on the dance floor.
Guaranteed you will double, even triple the fun factor when you dance. This first installment in a series of Improvers workshops will help you to dance Rock ‘n’ Roll with greater confidence and panache.

There's a lot of buzz around town with people wanting to learn jumps and throws. If you're one of them, I found this amazing footage from this year's European Championships you might want to watch. It made my jaw drop. Click on the link and see what you think. If I was a girl I wouldn't do these lifts without a parachute!!!!!
